Seniors spread drug de-addition message

Elders of Katra town indistrict Reasi have started a unique campaign to spread the message of drug de-addictionamong young school going students.

In one such event, adebate contest, which held at Government Higher Secondary School Katra, theSenior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra guided and advised students not to fallprey to drug addiction.

Speaking to the gathering,president of the Forum, Shiv Kumar Sharma thanked the school management,especially Principal, Fateh Singh for the support in spreading the message drugde-addiction.

In the debate competition,10 students took part and expressed their views. The stage was managed by MohanLal Sharma, general secretary of the Forum. The penal of adjudicators included ShubDutt Puri, Aman Nath (Retired Principals) a nd Channay Ram (retired ZEO).

At the end, ShaheenaAkhter of class 12 of GHSS Katra bagged the first prize in debate contestsecuring 72 out of 90 marks thus presented with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 andcertificate of merit.

Second prize of Rs 700went to Vivek Dhigra of class of 11 of GHSS while third place went to SakshiDevi of class 10th of Government Girls High School Katra. She givenaway a cash prize of Rs 500

Other seven students gotconsolation prize of Rs.200 each with certificate of participation.
