The Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu has registered a case against Sham Lal, a retired University of Jammu (JU) employee, for allegedly cheating eight persons of ₹14.40 lakh on the false promise of arranging government jobs in MES and other departments.
As per the joint complaint, the accused, a resident of village Sari Rakwalan, claimed to have influence with senior authorities and targeted daily wagers and members of poor families. He collected amounts ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹7,00,000 from the victims.
The complainants stated that their hard-earned savings were fraudulently taken by the accused, who has a reported history of duping people.
During preliminary verification, SCW found prima facie evidence that the accused allured the complainants and caused wrongful loss of ₹14.40 lakh. A case FIR under Section318(4) BNS has been registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Jammu. Investigation is being conducted by Inspector, Deepak Bharti.
Meanwhile, the SCW Jammu has urged citizens to remain cautious of such fraudulent job offers and report them immediately.
