Raesha, a promising chess player

At just seven years of tender age, young Raesha Thothola has started winning against her seniors in the open chess events held in the Jammu city in last couple of months.

A Ist standard student of Delhi Public School (DPS) Jammu, Raesha started her journey in the world of Chess an year ago at Vivek Chess Academy (VCA) in the Mast Garh locality of the old city.

Promising Raesha has already won gold in the under-10 age group in the Republic Cup securing four points out of the seven rounds competition held under the banner of All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA).

“Raesha is the youngest trainee of the VCA. Despite being so young, she has got the full understanding of the pieces and the moves. She has gained a lot in a short span of time. She has a bright future provided she continues with same zeal and efforts and stay long in the game,” said chief coach at VCA, Vivek Bharati.
