Prince Thakur of NationalAcademy High School, Udhampur bagged the first gold medal in the Junior Boys categoryof the Udhampur and Reasi District Sport Climbing competitions which held at SprawlingBuds ICSE School, Bantalab, here.
The silver and bronzemedal claimed by Mikhul Tripathi of National Academy High School, Udhampur andJitenderjeet Singh of Aryan Oriental Convent Higher Secondary School, Udhampurrespectively.
Similarly, in the JuniorBoys category of Reasi, there was a good competition among Tanvir Ahmad, Krish Singhand Pawan Singh of Amba Kids Home, Panthal, Katra in which Tanvir Ahmad emergedvictorious. Krish Sharma and Pawan Singh bagged silver and bronze medal respectively.

Mini Boys: Minik Thakur,Ist; Binnia Been, 2nd and Sanjeev Sharma, 3rd.
Mini Girls: Sehrish, Ist; Sanchi,2nd and Janvit, 3rd. Sub Junior Girls: Janvi Bhagat, Ist;Shehnaz Choudharyi, 2nd and Gulnaz Akhter, 3rd. SubJunior Boys: Harivansh Sharma, Ist; Yug, 2nd and Rihit Verma, 3rd.
Competition in the MiniGirls and Mini Boys categories of the Udhampur district were completely dominatedby climbers of Aryan Oriental Convent. Whereas Kovia Rajput, Ishika Thakur andAliya Ilahi secured the first three positions in the Mini girls categories,Mohd Adil,, Divyansh Verma and Tanish were the winners in the Mini Boys categoriesfrom Aryan School.
However, climbers ofNational Academy High School, Udhampur came back very strongly in the Sub JuniorGirls category and swept all the medals with Peehu Sharma, Sunaina Sharma andIra Singh securing the first three positions.
Almost similarly, in theSub Junior Boys and Junior Girls categories of Udhampur district competitionthe first two positions in both the categories were secured by climbers ofNational Academy High School and the third positions were clinched by climbersof Aryan Oriental Convent. While Samaksh Sharma and Anurag Sharma of NationalAcademy High School clinched the first and second position in the Sub unior Boyscategory the third position was bagged by Saiman of Aryan Oriental ConventSchool.
In the junior Girlscategory the first three positions were bagged by Rupali Thakur, Khushi Sharmaand Sanvi Sharma respectively However, competitions in the Men and Womencategories of both the districts could not be held for lack of adequateparticipation.
Earlier, the championship,in which about 112 climbers of Udhampur district and 68 of Reasi Districtparticipated, declared open by president of District MountaineeringAssociation, Udhampur, Verinder Slathia, a former JKAS officer, in the presenceof chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Rahul Sharma; Shawetica Khajuria;Ram Khajuria, senior vice president and Sumit Khajuria, vice president of MountaineeringAssociation of J&K. Upkar Singh, vice president, Mallikarjun Singh, joint secretaryof District Udhampur international climbers Shivani, Shilpa Chark and Arun DeepSingh; Sonam Sidharth, general secretary and Navneet Gupta, vice presidentDistrict Mountaineering Association, Jammu were also among prominent personspresent on the occasion.
In the valedictoryfunction he along with guest of honour, Rahul Sharma presented medals to thewinners of the various categories.
Both the championshipswere organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K and sponsored by J&KSports Council.
