Archery camp for first-time voters at Handwara

In a  unique sports initiative to encourage voterawareness and electoral participation, the District Electoral Officer (DEO)Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today inaugurated a three day Archery training camp at  Indoor Sports Stadium Handwara.

The camp was organized byDistrict Administration Kupwara as part of the ongoing Systematic Voters’Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative.

Archery training campbrought together first-time voters, students, officers of district administration,teachers and members of Archery association, besides the general public.

The purpose of organizingthe three day training camp under the SVEEP initiative was to raise awarenessabout the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the importance of voting bycombining the spirit of sports with a message of civic responsibility, and todevelop a culture of active participation in the electoral process.

While interacting with theparticipants, DEO highlighted the importance of empowering all citizens,especially first-time voters with the knowledge and confidence they need toactively participate in the democratic process.

Addressing the first timevoters, DEO said that students above 18 are our brand ambassadors for upcoming LokSabha elections. On May 20, the occasion of poll day for BaramullaParliamentary constituency, students above 18 will vote and motivate theirrelatives and friends to vote enthusiastically.
