A young and promising Wushu player of Jammu, Sajjad Choudhary lost his life in a tragic road accident at Narwal in the city outskirts, here.
Sajjad, a national medal winner in Sub-Junior category, was riding with his father, Razzak Choudhary ona two-wheeler when heavy truck hit them. The accident caused Sajjad’s death and left his father severely injured.
It has been learned that Sajjad was returning home after attending the selection trials for the upcoming Federation Cup at MA Stadium, here, when the accident took place.
Meanwhile, the untimely demise of Sajjad left Dhronacharya Awardee, DySP Kuldeep Handoo and entire Wushu fraternity in a state of shock.
In view of the unfortunate incident, the second day selection trails could not take place yesterday.
“His departure is an immense loss to the entire Wushu fraternity. A dedicated sportsman, who consistently demonstrated sincerity, commitment and humility in all his endeavours,” said Handoo.
“He shall always remain in our hearts and his contributions and cheerful presence will always be fondly remembered. We pray that the Almighty grants strength and fortitude to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss,” added Kuldeep
