Punjab’s Trijal Vohra andWest Bengal’s Sreosree Chakraborty emerged as the standout performers on the third day of the fifth UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championships at the Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, clinching the Under-13 Youth Boys and Girls titles respectively.
Trijal produced a flawless display of skill and control to blank M. Ashvajith of Tamil Nadu 3-0 in a one-sided final. The Punjab paddler, who had shown remarkable resilience in the semifinal after trailing by two games against Delhi’s Hardik Kumar, turned the title match into a masterclass of precision. He dictated the tempo from the outset, mixing sharp forehand drives with quick transitions to leave Ashvajith with little room to recover.
Sreosree, on the other hand, was pushed to the limit by her fellow West Bengal paddler Titash Chatterjee in a thrilling five-game battle that had the audience on edge until the final point. Both players went toe-to-toe, trading attacking rallies and testing each other’s reflexes, but it was Sreosree’s composure under pressure that made the difference as she closed out the decider to seal the crown.
In the earlier stages, Trijal had outplayed West Bengal’s Rajdeep Biswas 3-1 in the quarterfinals before surviving Hardik’s comeback attempt in the semis. Ashvajith earned his final berth with a 3-1 win over Uttar Pradesh’s Lakshya Kumar after over coming a tough five-game challenge from West Bengal’s Gem Mahalanabish in the quarters. In the girls’ section, Titash had dominated Tamil Nadu’s Pooja Ambati 3-0 in the semis, while Sreosree beat compatriot Akshita Mahato in straight games.
Earlier, Pooja edged Ishani Gogoi of Assam 3-2, Titash outlasted Avni Dua of Haryana 3-2, Akshita swept Delhi’s Shanaya Tyagi 3-0, and Sreosree held off Kerala’s N.K. Harshitha 3-2.
Rajdeep, Debanna star
West Bengal continued its fine run in the younger age categories as Rajdeep Biswas and Debanna Ari captured the Under-11 boys’ and girls’ titles. Rajdeep was in commanding form throughout, defeating Punjab’s Satvik Sharma 3-0 in a composed performance that highlighted his consistency and shot selection. Debanna too displayed poise and tactical awareness, overcoming Maharashtra’s Aadya Baheti 3-1 after briefly conceding the third game.
In the boys’ semifinals,Rajdeep had brushed aside West Bengal’s Debanshu Chakraborty 3-0, while Satvik edged TTFI-1’s Aarav Sahney in a tense five-game clash. The quarterfinals saw Rajdeep beat Karnataka’s Arnav Mithun 3-1, Debanshu sweep Maharashtra’s Rajvardhan Tiwari 3-0, Aarav ease past Yuvaan Walia 3-0, and Satvik register a 3-1 victory over Sharvil Karambelkar of Karnataka.
In the girls’ semis, Aadya overcame a gritty fight from Karnataka’s Sakshya Santosh 3-1, while Debanna breezed past West Bengal’s Dayita Roy 3-0. Earlier, Sakshya had advanced with a 3-0 win over Haryana’s Moksha, Aadya dispatched Rupkatha Das of West Bengal 3-0, Dayita defeated Delhi’s Jenya 3-1, and Debanna prevailed 3-1 over Uttar Pradesh’s Anshika Gupta.
