Top J&K Wushu players shine in Moscow

Three top Wushu players of Jammu and Kashmir brought laurels to the Nation by clinching Gold medals at the prestigious Moscow Wushu Stars Championship which held in Moscow.

Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh,Ansa Chisti, and Jiya Manhas delivered outstanding performances to secure top positions in their respective weight categories.

As per the reports reaching here, Bhanu Pratap blanked his opponents beating China 2-0 Kazakistan2-0 in the preliminary rounds and Russia 2-0 in the final.

“Bhanu Pratap Singh and Ansa Chisti are among the probable for the Asian Games and presently part of the National Coaching Camp at Ahmedabad. Both athletes will next participate in the Ranking Tournament scheduled from May two at Ahmedabad, followed by the final selection trials commencing June 10,” informed general secretary of the Wushu Association of J&K, Bhavneet.

Jiya Manhas displayed remarkable consistency by retaining her Gold medal, marking a consecutive victory at the championship.

Meanwhile, Sports Ministerof J&K, Satish Sharma and Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul congratulated the trio for making the Nation and the Union Territory of J&K proud.  Both wish Ansa and Bhanu for berth in the Indian team for the Asian Games, a separate handout issued by the Association here today informed.

Office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K, including president Vijay Saraf; vice presidents, Ranjeet Kalra and Sadat Aslam Wani; treasurer Sohit Sharma and general secretary Bhavneet extended heartfelt congratulations to the athletes for their golden success.

In the meantime, Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee and National Chief (Wushu) Coach, conveyed his congratulatory message to the entire Indian Wushu contingent, which secured an impressive tally of 23 Gold, 11 Silver, and four Bronze medals at the championship.
