Talented Arsalan hits inspiring debut double ton

Arsalan Nayak has played a key role in J&K’s historic triumph in the Vijay Merchant under-16 plate group title win, especially the brilliant double hundred.

Belongs to district Srinagar and training hard for the last eight years at a local training facility, Arsalan was among the lot of talented youngsters, who have performed exceptionally well this season.

With this achievement, he has become first young cricketer from J&K to score double hundred (215) against Nagaland to be declared second highest run getter in a national tournament. Besides double ton, Arsalan also made 140 runs against Meghalaya to score 480 runs in five matches of the tournament.

His brilliant play helpedJ&K qualify for the final and then clinch the trophy in style.

“Motivated by my parents, I have worked very hard during all these years to find a place in the J&K team. Once given the opportunity, I have proved myself but had never thought of such a milestone of double hundred. Since, it was a firm resolve and clear direction from the team management to stay on the wicket for long, the milestone just came my way,” said Arsalan.

Now, with already crossed the age of 16, Arsalan looks forward for a berth in the next higher age group under-19 in coming season.

 “Playing such brilliant innings at this young age is enough proof of hidden talent in Arsalan. This is just a beginning, he has to go a long way in Cricket,” said a member of the J&K Cricket Association.
