Surjeet of J&K Police wins Shiv Khori Dangal

Local wrestler Surjeet Singh of J&K Police lifted the 28 Shiv Khori  Kesari Dangal title defeating Kanhaiya Jatt of Dinanagar in Punjab in the main bout to receive Rs 12,000 cash prize and title at Ransoo in district Reasi. Dangal was part of the three-day Shiv Khori Mela.

Kanhaiya Jatt received Rs 9000 cash prize. The second main bout won by Fiza of J&K Police (Rs 9,000) who trounced Fariyad (Rs 6,000) of Bishanpur in Dinanagar. In another second out Kulbir Singh (Rs 9000) of Kot Bhalwal beat Bablu (Rs 6000) of Basantgarh .

The third main bout won by Sunil (Rs 6,000) of Kot Bhalwal beating Vijay (Rs 4,000) of Bain Bajalta.

The Dangal was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with Department of Tourism, J&K, Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board and Shiv Khori Dangal Committee under the overall supervision of Shiv Kumar Sharma, former Sarpanch Bhagwan Singh and Ramesh Chander Kohli.

The DDC Member Kewal Krishan was the chief guest and Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. The SHO Ransoo Narinder Singh Charak, Dr. Sajjan Sanjay Sahwney, Naib Tehsildar Ransoo, Ranjeet Singh and wrestling promoter Lochan Singh were among the guests of honour.

The organising committee thanked Director Tourism Jammu, Vikas Gupta for granting Rs. 1,00,000 and Deputy Commissioner Reasi, who Nidhi Malik, who contributed Rs. 50,000.

In total, 46 bouts decided in this day-long dangal. Later Shiv Kumar Sharma appreciated the members of the organising committee including Pawan Kohli, Vijay Kumar, Shamsher Singh, Rattan Singh, Rajesh Singh Nag, Kapoor Singh, Sat Paul Singh, Karnail Singh, Prem Singh, Sunil Kumar, Bal Chand, Sansar Chand, Ranjeet Kumar, Chain Kumar and Sohan Singh.
