Ist Kargil Badminton meet held at Baroo

The 1st Kargil BadmintonChampionship, organised by Kargil Badminton Association, concluded today wellattended closing function at Badminton Hall, Baroo, here.

The event was organized bythe Kargil Badminton Association and witnessed enthusiastic participation fromacross the district.

Deputy Commissioner/CEO,LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while AbdulHadi, Councillor LAHDC Kargil, was the guest of honour and Dr Niyaz Munshi,District Sheep Husbandry Officer Kargil was special guest.

Addressing the gathering,DC Kargil appreciated the efforts of the Kargil Badminton Association fororganizing the tournament for the first time in a professional manner. He complimentedthe organisers for mobilising around 100 players from all over Kargil in bothboys and girls categories, making the event a milestone in the district’ssports history.

He further said thatsports infrastructure was coming up at both district and block levels, and soonplayers will have adequate space to showcase their talent.

The DC also lauded theAssociation for felicitating International Taekwondo players, Shahnaz Parveenand Rinchen Youdol, adding that such recognition motivates other youth topursue sports as a profession. He assured full support from the Administrationto help players participate in national and international events.

                                                                       

Abdul Hadi also spoke onthe occasion and appreciated the initiative of the Association for providing aplatform to budding players and promoting sports culture in the district.

 

On behalf of theorganizers, Zakir Hussain, general secretary of the Kargil BadmintonAssociation, expressed gratitude, saying,

" I extend heartfeltgratitude to DC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, the Executive PWD, and the Department ofYouth Services and Sports for their continuous support. Their encouragement hasmade it possible to successfully organize this championship in a professionalmanner. We remain committed to providing more opportunities and a betterplatform for the budding players of Kargil."

Among others present inthe valedictory function included Syed Mehraj Uddin Shah, general secretaryDistrict Olympic Association Kargil and Anayat Ali general secretary LadakhTaekwondo Association.
