Sourav Ganguly-hosted ‘Bigg Boss Bangla’ to premiere on August 30

Sourav Ganguly-hosted reality show Bigg Boss Bangla will premiere on Star Jalsha and Jio Hotstar on August 30, the former India captain announced.

Featuring celebrity contestants, Bigg Boss Bangla promises the franchise's signature blend of compelling personalities, evolving relationships, emotional conflicts and unpredictable gameplay, infused with the wit, resilience and spirit of Bengal.

Speaking about stepping into the Bigg Boss Bangla house as host, Ganguly said he accepted the offer because he wanted to try something new.

"The biggest battles are never just about winning; they're about how you respond when the pressure keeps changing around you. That's exactly what makes Bigg Boss such a fascinating format. Every day brings new situations, new equations and new decisions, where staying calm and thinking ahead become just as important as speaking your mind," he said.

Sumanta Bose, Head of Entertainment Business, Hindi and Regional (East & West), Jio Star, said Ganguly was the obvious choice to host the show because it is centred on mental resilience — a quality he embodies.

The line-up of celebritycontestants is yet to be announced.

Ganguly is already a familiar face on Bengali television as the long-time host of Dadagiri.

Bigg Boss Bangla was last aired on Colors Bangla in 2016, with actor Jeet hosting its second season. The inaugural season, telecast in 2013, was hosted by actor Mithun Chakraborty.

The show's return comes amid a major reshuffle in Bengali television reality shows this year. While actor Dev has taken over as the host of Dadagiri, actress Swastika Mukherjee has replaced Rachna Banerjee as the host of Didi No. 1.
