Soham guides youngsters in Chess         * The top J&K player played a unique game with high rated six trainees at once

  

One and only InternationalMaster (IM) from Jammu and Kashmir, Soham Kamotra guided today young traineesof Vivek Chess Academy in an interactive session, here.

An inspiration for theentire Chess community of Union Territory of J&K, Soham has earned a uniquefeat when he became IM, a high-ranking chess title awarded by the FIDE, theInternational Chess Federation.

“Cool, composed and softspoken Soham spend around an hour with the young trainees as if he was one ofthe them. The top J&K player played a unique game with high rated sixtrainees at once. Further, he has also got the ability of playing upto threeplayers without watching at the board,” informed Coach at the Academy, VivekGupta.

On the visit of Soham, theVivek Chess Academy organised Raesha Cup. The title trophy won by Soham to beawarded a cash prize of Rs 1000.  Secondplace went to Surinder Gupta whie Ishaan Chowdhary finished third to receive Rs500 each. Amrita Gupta emerged best women and Nitika declared best in under-12year category to be awarded with Rs 500 each.

Important to mention herethat Soham learned the basics of Chess as a young trainee from Vivek Gupta forseven years between 2013 and 2020.

Besides being first IMfrom J&K, Soham has to his credit Commonwealth Gold with presently havingcareer highest ranking of 2412.
