Brilliant innings byopening batsman, Shubham Khajuria helped J&K made a confident start againstformidable side of Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group atSher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar.

Shubham was battingconfidently with 130 runs coming off 200 deliveries with the help of 18 boundariesand two sixes thereby helped the side make 264 runs for the loss of fivewickets in 80 overs play at the end of day one.

Earlier, put to bat first,after losing the toss, J&K made a poor beginning when Abhinav Puri lost hiswicket on duck. However, Shubham and his name sake, Shubham Singh Pundir stabledthe innings and brought the total to 77 for the second wicket.

It was followed by loss ofwickets on regular intervals but thanks to Khajuria’s confident innings, whokept the one end intact thereby helping the hosts to reach a respectful total.

When the day’s play calledoff, Shubham and Shivansh Sharma were at the crease.
