Semifinals position has been cleared with teams qualifying for the last four stages of the Jammu District Hockey Championship, organised by the Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today.
Teams reaching the semifnals are Bandurakh Hockey Club, GNN Hockey Club, Sahil Hockey Club and Young Star Hockey Club. Now, in the semifinals, slated for tomorrow, Bandurakh Club shall meet Sahil Club at 2 pm while GNN HockeyClub shall take on Young Star Club at 4 pm.
The event was declared open by Mansger Hakhu Stadium, Ajay Gupta in the presence of veteran hockey player and guest of honour, Iqbal Singh Allah.
Earlier, general secretary of the Association, Dr Taran Singh presented a detailed report of the district championship and thanked J&K Sports council the extending a helping hand. He informed that the Hockey J&K has declared to hold district women championship and J&K UT Championship in near future.
Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal including Sahil Kumar, Gurvachan Singh (match officials),Anjali , Minakshi , Jagjit Singh, Sarabjeet Kour and Anu Sharma (all technical officials).
Earlier, a total of seven teams confirmed their participation in the district championship.
The Results: Preliminary Round: Guru Nanak Hockey Club bt Shaheed Bhagat Singh HockeyClub 8-0; Bandhu Rakh bt MBS Club Simbal Camp 5-2; Sahil Hockey Club bt Gole Gujral Khalsa Hockey Club 9-0.
