Punjab wrestler wins Jhajjar Kotli Dangal

: Wrestler Chhota Saddam of Hoshiarpur in Punjab lifted the99th Jhajjar Kotli Dangal title beating Lalli, again of Punjab (Phagwara)in a close fight at Jhajjar Kotli, here.

The title winner Chhota Saddam presented a cash prize of Rs.  80,000 while runners up, Lalli  got Rs 70,000. In total, 46 bouts played in this dangal, which was organized by Jhajjar Kotli Kesari Dangal Committee in support with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.

In the second main bout Nadeem(Rs 18,000) of Doda defeated Sarwan (Rs 13,000) of Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab while Rishu of Kathua held Nisar of Doda to draw thereby shared Rs 15,000 prize money.

The fourth main bout wonby Surjit Singh of J&K Police beating Arif of Doda and for fifth bout won by Fiza of J&K Police trouncing Yuv Raj of Jammu. Another bout Muneer of Panj Garni defeated Deepa of Mullapur.

Other Results: Amir Khan of J&K Police bt Irfan of Basantgarh; Arjun of Jammu bt Laikat Ali of Punjab; Chain Singh of Reasi bt Babal of Mullapur; Kharpu of Jammu bt Akhtar ofHasssiarpur; Dillar of J&K Police bt Surma of Hamiarpur. The bout between Ranjeet Singh of J&K Police and Shariff of Hoshiarpur ended in a draw.

District president and senior BJP leader, Nand Kishore Sharma was the chief guest while Shiv Kumar Sharma, president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association presided. The SHO Jhajjar Kotli, Sunil Sharma and Naib Tehsildar, Bishan Dutt were the guests of honour.

Dangal was organized underthe overall supervision of Durga Dass Thappa, Om Parkash Dubey, Nazir Mohd. Dhami, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Sat Paul Verma. Members of Dangal Committee included Durga Dass Thappa, Om Parkash Dubey, Nazir Mohd. Dhami, Pardeep Singh Wazir, Deepak Khajuria, Sham Lal Baru, Mulk Raj Baru, Virender Khajuria, Sanjay Dubey, Swarn Singh, Kanchan Singh, Jamat Ali Fouji, Advocate Sunil Kamar, Vijay Kumar Dubey, Sonu Dhami, Biju Panch, Bunty Seth, Satish Kumar Dubey, Sanjay Pamber Ashwani Dubey, Pinku Baru and Kaka Ram Mohal.

“Sports not only build physical strength but also instill discipline, team work and leadership qualities among youth while playing a crucial crucial role of youth in building a drug free society by getting involved in physical activities,” said Shiv Kumar Sharma.
