Paras Sharma won 1st La-Veeraz Cup Chess Fiesta which was organized by Jammu District Chess Association at Khara Madana, near here.
In the final sixth round, which was followed by the prize distribution function, Avtar Singh former DDC member was the chief guest, who in the presence of other guests presented title trophies and other individual cash prizes worth Rs 25,000.
In total, 65 players participated in this event in different age groups. The second position secured by veteran player, SP Sharma while Maxim Singh remained third. Rithvik Gandotra and Pazhany Kohli were fourth and fifth while Sumit Grover and Harinandan finished sixth and seventh. The eighth position bagged by Rajyawardhan Singh and Akashdeep Singh remained at ninth spot, followed by the Surinder Gupta at 10th place considering the points earned in the seven round competition.
Amrita Gupta got best woman award, Mitansh was best Under-15 participant and Ishwam Kwatra declared best in Under-13. Keshav was best Under-11, Yuvaan best Under-nine and Karan best Under-seven.
Stuti Gupta was chief arbiter of the event while Aditi Sharma acted deputy chief arbiter. The Event held in Rapid format under Swiss system.
The day-long event held under the supervision of Meenal Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association.
