NSFs asked to prepare document for Los Angeles Olympics by 15 July

The Ministry of YouthAffairs and Sports has directed all recognised National Sports Federations(NSFs) to publish the Olympic qualification and selection pathway, includingthe criteria and process to be adopted for the selection of athletes for theLos Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The Ministry hasreiterated that the selection policy and criteria for mega sporting events suchas the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, Para Asian Games and CommonwealthGames should be well publicised and uploaded on the official website of theconcerned NSF at least two years before the commencement of the respectiveGames.

The selection policy andcriteria should also be shared with the member units of the NSFs and the SportsAuthority of India.

The Los Angeles OlympicGames are scheduled to be held from July 14 to July 30 2028.

The Ministry has informedthat the qualification pathways for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games have beenreleased by the respective International Federations, which are available atthe following link:

Accordingly, allrecognised NSFs have been requested to publish the Olympic qualification andselection pathway, including the criteria and process to be adopted for theselection of athletes for the Games, on their official websites immediately andno later than July 15, 2026.

 

The NSFs have also beenasked to disseminate the selection pathway among all affiliated State and UnionTerritory Associations.

The initiative is aimed atpromoting greater transparency and accountability in the athlete selectionprocess by ensuring that the qualification pathway, selection criteria andselection procedure for the Games are placed in the public domain well inadvance for the benefit of all stakeholders.
