The Under-17 team, takingpart in the National event under the banner of Department of Youth Services andSports (DYSS), was flagged off by the
Lieutenant Governor ofLadakh, Kavinder Gupta at Raj Niwas, today.
The LG extended his bestwishes to the team saying, “We all here will wait for the trophy and medals andI hope you will return with flying colours.”
Secretary, Youth Servicesand Sports, UT Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha, Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, SSP Kargil, Ram R, JointDirector Sports, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, district ( DYSS) Kargil, Abid Hussainand other coaching staff and officials were present.
Sharing details, SecretarySports expressed delight over the team’s participation, noting that this is thefirst-ever SGFI Boxing team from Ladakh. She thanks the LG for flagging off thecontingent and highlighted that both boys’ and girls’ teams are part of thedelegation, providing them with a great platform to showcase their talent.
She further mentioned thatthe UT Administration is making continuous efforts to develop sportsinfrastructure and organize national-level events in Ladakh. The Khelo IndiaWinter Games, successfully hosted for the last two years, will continue to be amajor focus area, she added, as Ladakh holds vast potential for winter sportsdevelopment.
