The Ice Hockey Associationof India (IHAI) has elected a new Executive Committee for the 2026–2030 term,following a judicially supervised election process.
Vice president of the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh, Kunzag Namgyal, popularly known as PT Kunzag, has been unanimously elected president.
Veteran sports administrator, Surinder Mohan Bali has been appointed CEO. With nearly 28 years of experience in sports administration, Bali has held senior positions in the Indian Olympic Association, International Handball Federation and Handball Association of India.
Wrestling champion, Chandrhar Subhash Patil has been elected senior vice president, while Wing Commander (Retd.) Ajit Kakkar and Hind Kesari, Santosh Pandurang Vetal will serve as vice presidents.
Subedar Major (Retd.)Vijayanand Laxman Surwase has been elected joint secretary and national medal-winning ice hockey player, Maheshwari Dangeti has been unanimously elected treasurer.
The committee also includes Tundup Namgyal, captain of India’s first national ice hockey team and the country’s first IIHF-certified referee, and international coach Ashraf Diju, who has served as secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Ice Hockey Association for 12 years.
The new leadership has pledged to promote transparent governance, strengthen grassroots development, support athletes and enhance India’s presence on the international ice hockey stage.
