Kulgam Hurricanes lifts Volleyball League trophy

Kulgam Hurricanes defeated Anantnag Spartans to lift the title trophy of the South Kashmir Volleyball League which took place, here. Amid loud cheers, drum beats and enthusiastic support from spectators, Kulgam Hurricanes dominated the summit clash and secured a convincing 3-0 victory to lift the title.

The four-day event was organised by the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir (VAJK) in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC). The tournament was inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor (PG) Manoj Sinha on May 14 and brought together talented volleyball teams from Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam,Poonch and Rajouri districts. Kulgam Hurricanes displayed remarkable teamwork, discipline and skill throughout the tournament.

The winning team included five national-level players, Pankaj, Asghar, Amar, Vipin and Shakir, whose experience added strength and balance to the team’s outstanding performance. Local MLA Shabir Ahmad Kullay attended the final as the chief guest and congratulated the winning team for their exceptional display. He urged the youth to stay away from drug abuse and actively participate in sports and other positive activities saying that sports provide an effective platform to channel the energy of youngsters in a constructive direction while promoting discipline, confidence and unity.

The MLA also appreciated the efforts of the JKSC and VAJK for organising such events and creating opportunities for young athletes across the region. Former CEO VAJK, Kuldeep Magotra, treasurer VAJK Mohd Tariq, and members of Shopian civil society, including Mitha Gatoo and Mansoor Magray, were also present.
