Thirty three candidatesdrawn from across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have beenshortlisted to attend the historic Umpires Clinics of Jammu and Kashmir CricketAssociation (JKCA).
The Clinics, to be held separatelyat Jammu and Srinagar, shall be supervised by the ICC Panel Umpire, AnilChaudhary and Vikas Dalal from June 28.
The Clinic at Jammu, forwhich 17 candidates have been shortlisted, will commence on June 28 at JKCAHostel Ground and shall conclude on July two. The same Clinic at Srinagar isscheduled to be held conducted from July four to July eight for 16 shortlistedcandidates, a handout issued by the JKCA here today informed.
Anil Chaudhary, ex International/IPLUmpire, has the honour of being the only Indian Umpire to do Asia Cup Final (2022)in United Arab Emirates (UAE), besides having the distinction of being theUmpire with a maximum number of games (226) in the Indian Premier League (IPL),apart from having the experience of 12 Test Matches, 27 ODI Matches, World Cup,Asia Cup and Afghanistan Premier League (APL).
On the other hand, VikasDalal got inducted into the BCCI National Panel of Umpires in 2022 aftersecuring All India Rank-1 in BCCI Umpires Exam 2022, besides having anexperience of 86 BCCI Games and officiating in the Final of inaugural editionof Delhi Premier League 2024, apart from being the resource person along withother senior BCCI faculties in Umpiring Seminars in DDCA for the last threeyears.
The JKCA had lastconducted Umpires Clinic in 2008-09, and it was after a gap of 16 years, theClinic was being conducted. However, this time the Clinic is being conducted atboth Jammu and Srinagar.
Sapna Jamwal will be theClinic Coordinator at Jammu, while Umar Ahmed Wani will do the same job atSrinagar.
"The induction ofmore qualified Umpires in the cricketing system at home will surely strengthenthe system at the grass-root level," asserted Brig Anil Gupta, MemberAdministration JKCA.
Mithun Manhas, MemberCricket Operations and Development JKCA said that the Umpires Clinic under theoverall supervision of Anil Chaudhary, ICC's Umpire of great repute, will provide platform for aspirants toachieve perfection.
