After stunning performance from batters, the bowlers duo of Rajveer Singh and Sanil Singh plotted collapse of Meghalaya and handed later a crushing innings and 384 runs defeat in Vijay Merchant Trophy match at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium, Surat in Gujarat today.
As per the reports reaching here, after declaring their innings overnight at a commanding 585 for seven, J&K's bowlers bowled out Meghalaya twice in a single day. In the first innings, Meghalaya lost all their wickets for paltry 75 and bundled out for a modest 126 in the second innings.
Only Meghalaya skipper, K Choudhary could show some resistance with 40 contribution in the first innings while S. Chettri's made 45 in in the second.
Sanil Singh claimed five wickets in the first innings and one in the second, while Rajveer ripped through with four wickets in the each innings. Skipper Smagey Khajuria chipped in with two wickets in the second essay.
Earlier, on day-one, in a display of ruthless dominance, J&K batters dismantled Meghalaya's bowling attack,amassing a colossal 585 for seven.
This thunderous total vaulted J&K into the record books, marking the second-highest single-day score in the tournament's history, trailing only Bihar's 591.
J&K openers Karman Singh and Arsalan Nayak erupted from the outset, forging a blistering 248-run partnership. Karman exuded sublime grace and unyielding solidity en route to a masterful 182 (214 balls, 31 fours, two sixes). Hadi Amin then remained unbeaten on a power-packed 115 (84 balls, 15 fours, four sixes). Adnan Manzoor(53 ) and Rajveer Singh (44) were other main contributors to the total.
Meanwhile, member Administration J&K Cricket Association, Brig Anil Gupta complimented the team for the record victory.
"Heartiest congratulations to J&K for a resounding victory over Meghalaya. After the batters domination yesterday, it was the bowlers turn today, who impressed with their brilliance too bowling out the opponent twice in a day. Rajveer and Sanil were star of the day. My appreciations for the experienced coaching too," said Brig Anil Gupta.
