The Wushu athletes of Jammu and Kashmir won 16 medals (10 Gold, five Silver and one Bronze) at the Batumi Open International Wushu Tournament, which held at Batumi in Georgia

As per a handout issued by the Wushu Association of J&K, all six medal winning players from J&K were selected through the selection trials held at Dehradun in April last.

Competing in the Taolu events across Junior and Sub-Junior categories, the athletes delivered an outstanding performance, bringing laurels to the Union Territory and the country.

The medal winners:

Individual: Aahan Sharma (Changquan–Silver,  Daoshu – Gold, Gunshu – Gold); Dhruvika Gupta (Wing Chun – Gold, Double Dagger – Gold); Hiranya Mahajan (Changquan –Gold); Pratibha Devi (Nanquan – Silver, Nandao – Gold, Nangun – Silver); Rudra Pratap Singh (Double Dagger – Gold); Swarit Singh Chib (Nanquan – Silver, Nandao – Silver, Nangun – Gold). The Team Event:

Team events: Duilian (Swarit Singh Chib and Rudra Pratap Singh), Gold; Duilian (Hiranya Mahajan and Dhruvika Gupta), Gold. Group (Swarit Singh Chib, Rudra Pratap Singh, Pratibha Devi, Hiranya Mahajan, and Dhruvika Gupta), Bronze.

Earlier, the Indian Wushu contingent, comprising 43 members, arrived in New Delhi yesterday and was warmly welcomed by the office bearers of the Wushu Association of India.

The J&K medalists extended a warm welcome by Bhavneet, general secretary of the Wushu Association of J&K. She congratulated the athletes and their coach, Sher Bhadur, for their performance on the international stage, the handout informed.

Vijay Saraf, president o fthe Association appreciated the achievement of the young athletes at the international stage.
