J&K wins overall trophy in Karate

Jammu and Kashmir clinched overall trophy in the two-day 4th Golden Bharat Karate Cup, which was organized by All India Karate Federation (AIKF) at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.

The J&K medal tally included 12 medals, including two Gold and six Silver in various weight and age categories of twin events of Kata and Kumite.

Kartik Verma won gold in Kumite and bronze in Kata in 24 kg weight category. Other medal winners: Sejan,48 kg (Silver, Bronze); Veshnavi, 28 kg (Bronze), Maqsood Hussain, 84 kg(Silver, Bronze); Trisha Magotra, 32 kg (Silver, Bronze); Arnav Yadav (Silver, Bronze); Pranav (Silver, Bronze).

J&K also won gold in newly introduced 55 plus age category Master Kata event through Sanjeev Dewan.

The team was accompanied by Ram Lal of Dilkhush Knight Club Institute Nagrota.

In total, 18 States and Union Territories as also affiliated clubs of the country took part in this championship.
