The two-day 23rd J&K UT Athletics Championship concluded today at the Synthetic Athletics Track,University of Jammu. The event, which held under the auspices of the Athletics Federation of India and the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), was collaborated by University of Jammu and the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), J&K.
The championship held in Under-14,Under-16, Under-18, Under-20, and Open categories of both boys and girls,including Open Men and Women.
About 900 athletes from various districts of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory participated in the championship.
In closing ceremony Sat Sharma, Member Parliament was chief guest, who along with special guests Rajiv Sharma, president Tenni Koit Federation of India, Kuldeep Hendoo, Droncharya Awardee and DySP J&K Police and Rekha Mahajan senior BJP leader presented medals and certificates to the winners.
Earlier, Sunil Mahajan, president J&K Athletics Association welcomed all the guests and thanked them for sparing their time and blessing the medal winners.
Later, the chief guest declared the championship closed. In his address Sat Sharma commended the athletes and officials and appreciated their participation.
Sharat Chander Singh, general secretary of J&K Athletics Association presented the vote of thanks and appreciated the role of DYSS and JKSC , Jammu University, J&K Police for the support in making the event success.
He also thanked the senior members of the Association complimented the technical officials, especially Nirmal Singh , Pawandeep Kaur, Gurcharan Singh , Sarabjeet Singh, Rakesh Charak, Harsimran Singh and Harvinder Singh for smooth conduct.
