: Jammu and Kashmir performed exceptionally well in the ongoing Ist Khelo India Tribal Games winning overall runners-up trophy securing seven medals, including gold and four silver at Sarguja, Ambikapur in Chhattsigarh.
“Besides Wrestling, J&K has also fielded its teams in Athletics and Weightlifting. However, the Wrestling team brought laurels. The J&K contingent takes part in the games under the banner of the Sports Council. Started on March 25 at different venues, the games shall conclude on April three,” contingent incharge (CDM) and manager J&K Sports Council (JKSC), Suraj Bhan Singh informed.
The seven medal in the shape of a Silver added to the tally by Diler Khan in 130 kg weight category in Greco-Roman event.
The medal winners: Haman Hussain, Gold (97 kg, Freestyle), Bahadur Khan, Silver (86 kg, Freestyle), Shaman Hoon, Silver (97 kg, Greco-Roman), Reyaz Hussain, Silver (87 kg, Greco-Roman), Diler Khan, Silver (130 kg, Greco-Roman), Mohd Wasim, Bronze (97 kg, Freestyle), Injmam Hussain, Bronze (77 kg, Greco-Roman).
Led by CDM Suraj Bhan Singh,the support staff with the contingent incuded Gurcharan Singh and Rajesh Kumar(Athletics); Dhanraj Singh (Weightlifting), and Aditya Singh Chib (Wrestling).
