J&K Police win Silver in Pencak Silat in Police Games

Hosts Jammu and Kashmir won a Silver medal in Pencak Silat on the opening day of the 10th All India Police Games Judo Cluster at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex(SKISC), here today.

The only medal for J&K came in Tunggal Artistic through Ravees Ahmed.  First place clinched by Abhishek Kumar Gautam of SSB while  third place shared by Huidrom Bishan Meetei of Assam Rifles and Dipankar Das of West Bengal Police.

On the other hand, the Karate event, that also started today at other venue of Indoor Complex, Polo Ground, here, the competition was still at the preliminary stages and the final results are expected tomorrow.

The medal winners of the day-one were felicitated by Sports Officer of J&K Police, Kuldeep Handoo in the presence of other senior officers.

Earlier, during the day,organising secretary of the Police Games Judo Cluster, ADGP, Anand Jain visited both the venues and witnessed the competition in Pencak Silat and Karate. He interacted with the technical officials and the participants and enquired about their well being.

WOMEN: Solo: Sonia,Chandigarh, Ist; Madhu Kumari, SSB, 2nd; Rajwinder Kumari, Punjaband Barsa Nath, Orissa, 3rd. Tunggal: Simran, Chandigarh, Ist; Deeksha Sharma, Madhya Pradesh, 2nd; Barsa Nath, Orissa and Shital, SSB, 3rd.
