J&K’s tennis star Mayank excelling at National stage

Jammu and Kashmir’s promising young tennis player, MayankGupta, has brought pride to the region by reaching the finals of theprestigious Punjab AITA Champion Series Under-14 tournament, which held atHarvest Tennis Academy, Jassowal.

The tournament, which began on September eight, concludedwith Mayank putting up a strong fight in the final against Karthik S.B. Pujalaof Telangana.

“Vineet Gupta, “Mayank played his heart out in the finalbut narrowly missed the title. Despite the loss, the achievement is noteworthy,especially considering that no other player from J&K currently features inthe top 100 Boys Under-14 rankings. Mayank, who is ranked 114th in India,continues to rise with consistent performances and an unyielding commitment tothe sport,” said father of Mayank, Vineet Gupta.

Mayank is currently training under Aditya Sachdeva,India’s top tennis coach and former mentor of ATP player, Yuki Bhambri, at theRoundGlass Tennis Academy in Chandigarh.

Under Sachdeva’s expert guidance, Mayank was preparingfor upcoming international tournaments and the highly anticipated Under-14Nationals in Delhi from October six.

“In addition to his on-court achievements, Mayank hasalso displayed commendable social responsibility. Over the past three years, hehas donated all his prize money — totalling Rs 45,000 — to the Shaheed ParivarFund through Punjab Kesari, and was also honoured for his contributions,”informed his father.

Mayank Gupta’s journey reflects not only sporting talentbut also character, making him a true role model for young athletes across theregion.
