Young footballer from Jammuand Kashmir, Ishan Gupta has joined the competitive side of Border SecurityForce (BSF) for the prestigious Durand Cup.
Ishan, who has alreadyrepresented the J&K in the 78th Senior National Championship forSantosh Trophy, was picked by the BSF for its star-studded side for the 134thedition of the Durand Cup.
Known for his skill andconsistency, Gupta’s selection is a proud moment for the region. The BSF team,a past winner of the Durand Cup, is competing alongside top Indian SoccerLeague (ISL), I-League, and Armed Forces teams.
“This was a dream cometrue for me. Working hard to chase my dreams. With this opportunity, I havetaken a step forward to achieve the ultimate aim of representing India,” Ishantold SAN.
Being a young footballerfrom Jammu, Ishan played most of his game at the GGM Science College groundsand Mini Stadium, Parade before joining the mighty Indian Army’s sports wing.
Meanwhile, former Indiaplayer, Arun Malhotra, who is part of the technical team of the All IndiaFootball Federation (AIFF), said, “Ishan is a talented footballer and hasworked hard. He has got the skill and temperament to one day represent the country.Ishan has made Jammu proud his achievements.”
The competition will behosted in five states. The participating 24 teams are divided into six groups,with the winners and the two best-ranked teams moving into the quarterfinals.
The 2025 Durand Cup startedon July 23, ending with the final on 23 August 23 at the Salt Lake Stadium inKolkata.
