Gandhi Nagar zone won the under-17 boys cricket tournament beating Zone Miran Sahib in the inter-zone district level competitions of Jammu, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), at different venues, here today.

Held at Khel Gaon in Nagrota, here, the final turned out to be a one-sided affair with Gandhi Nagar winning the game by 50 runs. Batting first, after winning the toss, Gandhi Nagar set a target of 126 runs for eight wickets in 15 overs. Vihan Puri remained top scorer with unbeaten 54 runs while Anit Ray contributed 29. From Miran Sahib Ayan Choudhary took three wickets and Adarsh bagged two.

In reply, Miran Sahib bowed out for 75 runs in 12.3 overs to lose the game by a margin of 50 runs. Rehal Singh and Aniket were top scorers with 31 and 19 runs respectively. Smrat and Anit Ray shared two wickets each from Gandhi Nagar Zone.

Meanwhile, the under-17 and under-14 boys competition in the disciplines of Volleyball and Handball was at the preliminary stages and the finals results are expected by tomorrow.

VOLLEYBALL Under-14 year: Zone Dansal beat Zone Jammu 2-0; Zone Bhalwal beat Zone Bishnah by 2-0;  Zone Dansal beat Zone Bhalwal by 2-1; Zone Satwari beat Zone Chowki Choura 2-0; Zone Bishanh beat Zone Jammu by 2-0.
