DYSS refuses re-trials to boys without age proof

Taking a firm stand not to allow anyone defy the laid down norms, the officials concerned of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) today refused participation to those under-14 cricketers, who reported for the retrials without specific age proof documents on day-one at JKCA grounds, here today.

All 15 boys, who reported without relevant documents, were asked to bring along the needed papers at the time of reporting tomorrow.

Important to mention here that after a lot of hue and cry with regard to the selection of under-14 cricket team of J&K for National School Games, the DYSS, on the recommendations of the committee constituted for the purpose, shortlisted 48 best performers of the season for retrials through matches starting today.

These 48 players have been further divided into four teams and trial matches have been initiated after verification of Date of Birth certificates issued by competent authorities as provided in SGFI norms.

“Birth certificate issued by the birth registration authorities as a proof of age is considered valid for all purposes including the SGFI guidelines. All 48 top performers were asked to submit original birth certificates as age proof. However, 15 players out of these 48 have not been able to provide original copies. They have been asked to submit the same by tomorrow failing which further action shall be taken as per laid down norms,” a statement issued by DYSS here today mentioned.

Public in general and the media fraternity in particular have been requested to have trust in the system and avoid being judgmental before the final outcome of the exercise.
