The Indian OlympicAssociation (IOA) has made senior athlete from J&K and former internationalwrestler, Dushyant Sharma part of the three-member Indian delegation to theParis Olympics scheduled to take place from July 29 to August 10.
Dushyant Sharma, SSP,presently posted at PTTI Vijaypur, has been picked from J&K considering hisexperience and international exposure. Now, he shall be part of the delegation ofthe International Olympic Committee (IOC) Observers Programs during OlympicGames.
The Programs is a uniqueopportunity that will allow the delegation to gain first-hand experience andknowledge about the intricacies involved in the planning, organization and executionof the Olympic Games.
“Under the leadership ofDr PT Usha, president, the IOA gears up for a significant opportunity toenhance their understanding and preparations for hosting future Olympic Gamesin India. Moreover, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has already announced plansto host Olympics in 2036 on Indian soil showcasing its commitment to sports andits future,” Dushyant Sharma told SAN.
Dushyant observed that hisparticipation will significantly contribute to strategic objectives, particularlyin areas related to security and operational management as well his presencewill also facilitate the development of a robust framework for managinglarge-scale international events, aligning with global standards.
Dushyant Sharma has representedIndia National and international stage winning a Bronze medal in 1993 in the TaktiWorld Wrestling Championship held at Afsaan in Iran. Later, he has accompanied Indianwrestling teams as team leader in various Wrestling Championship includingCommonwealth Games held at Melbourne, Australia in 2011 and in Vencanuer.
Dushyant has a long list ofevents he participated as a leading Indian wrestler thus earned a name for thecountry and the UT of J&K.

Olympic Games in 2012,DavaScheltz International Wrestling Championship held at Colorado Spring USA inthe year 2014. He also accompanied as Team Leader with Indian Senior WomenWrestling Team for 5 th Annual Benefit & International WrestlingCompetition held at Los Angeles California USA In 2019,Dushyant was deputed asChef-D-Mission of Indian contingent in the 13th South Asian Games held atKathmandu Nepal.
Meanwhile, DirectorGeneral of J&K Police, R.R Swain termed the selection as a honour for entireJ&K Police as well as for UT of J&K. He wished the officer a purposefulstay at Paris in France.
