Dharya wins 2 Bronze for J&K in Walther Cup

Dharya Kotwal, a promisingyoung shooter of Mission Olympics Shooting Academy Jammu (MOSAJ), broughtlaurels to Jammu and Kashmir with an outstanding performance at India OpenWalther Cup Champion of Champions (COC) winning two Bronze medals.

Dharya delivered animpressive score of 413.1 points in the qualification round, demonstratingexceptional focus, consistency, and composure. Building on her outstandingperformance in the previous year’s competition, where she scored 415.3 points,she secured her place among the top eight finalists in the Champion ofChampions event. She further demonstrated her potential by securing anexcellent fifth place in the final, competing at a shooting range that hostsWorld Cup-level competitions.

Important to mention herethat the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) conducted five competitionsduring this year’s India Open and Jaspal Rana Cup series. The top eightathletes from all five competitions were selected to compete in the prestigiousChampion of Champions (COC) event and rank fifth, making qualification asignificant achievement in itself.

“Dharya’s achievement atsuch a young age is a testament to her dedication, discipline, anddetermination. It marks a proud moment for her parents, coaches, and the entireMOSAJ family, while serving as an inspiration to aspiring shooters across Jammuand Kashmir,” said MOSAJ coach, Vishal Mehra.

“As a Khelo India Academy,the MOSAJ remains committed to identifying and nurturing young sporting talentthrough structured training, expert coaching, and competitive exposure. Theacademy continues to work towards empowering athletes from J&K to excel atnational and international levels,” informed coach, Aman Singh.

Both the coaches congratulatedDharya on her commendable performance and praised her hard work, commitment,and steady progress. They expressed confidence in her ability to achieve evengreater milestones in the future.

Meanwhile, the J&KRifle Association (JKRA) president, Surinder Singh Sodhi; chairman KuldeepJamwal, general secretary, Sharat Chander Singh, and treasurer Arun Mansotraalso joined in complimenting the young shooter.
