Dharya Kotwal, a promising shooter from Mission Olympics Shooting Academy Jammu (MOSAJ)-a Khelo India accredited Academy, brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir securing three medals in the 35th All India G. V. Mavlankar Shooting Championship which held at Mohali in Chandigarh.
She delivered an impressive score of 395 to claim Silver in Sub-Youth and Bronze each in Junior and Senior categories of the event. Shiekh Zainab Iqbal also performed commendably with a score of 391 and 557 in the 50 meters event.
Advika Singh secured an achievement score of 391, Tarleen Kour secured 390, Lovyia Parihar delivered a noteworthy performance with an achievement score of 389, and Maadhvi Dabas scored 384 in the championship. All these shooters have subsequently qualified for the National Championship, marking another significant achievement in their sporting journeys.
These talented young women demonstrated remarkable focus, courage, and determination, proving that girls are not only participating in shooting sports but achieving excellence and inspiring others to aim higher.
The MOSAJ coaches, Vishal Mehra and Aman Singh congratulated Dharya and all the athletes on their commendable achievements and praised their consistent efforts, focus, and hardwork. They expressed confidence in their potential to achieve greater milestones in the future.
Meanwhile, considering the achievement, J&K Rifle Association (JKRA) president, Surinder Singh Sodhi, chairman Kuldeep Jamwal, general secretary Sharat Chander Singh, and treasurer Arun Mansotra, along with other office bearers acknowledged for their support and encouragement towards the development of shooting sports in the region.
“As a Khelo India Academy, MOSAJ is committed to identifying and nurturing raw sporting talent and empowering the sports community across J&K. It is the first academy of itskind in the J&K region dedicated to providing aspiring athletes with access to structured training, expert guidance, and competitive opportunities, helping them pursue excellence and represent the region at national and international levels,” said coach one of the directors of MOSAJ, Vishal Mehra.
