Crowd Management: Ill placed Infrastructure during sporting events

This refers to the turningpoint from the moments when one visualizes that spectators involving themselvesenthusiastically cheering their heros, shouting erroneously, complimentingthem, waving hands, flags and signage of different shades and makingenvironment really voluptuous and equally lively for TV viewers suddenly turnslike a cut to the bone shacking them all are the most distressing scenario theWorld sees.

There can be hundreds ofreasons and circumstances even beyond one's control but when they are due toill and meticulous crowd management, unsafe infrastructure , lazy rapid action troops, it definitely people go toraise eye brows against the organisers and security staff meant to maintainsafety of performers and spectators for their gross negligence and poormanagement.

Here are few observationshow untoward incidences occur and how these can be prevented:

Avoid overcrowding andensure proper screening:

To ensure error free, safeand manageable crowd management and security staff in no case allow over crowdwhich often jeopardise, peace and tranquillity due to excess issuance of entrytickets through vendors, contractors or complimentary passes by the managementagainst safe and manageable places.

In the absence of properbarricading and sufficient posted security staff, unscrupulous and ticketlesspersons can create problem of overcrowding the area with illegal entries.

Tendency of Spectators:

Technical analysis revealthat in majority of the cases of stampeding the victims become a subject offatality while leaving stadia because when viewers enter the venue they come insmall groups but when the event is over they become impatient and in a race toexit immediately, pushing and overstepping becomes a cause of injuries anddeaths.

What To Do:

*To ensure peaceful safeand successful conduct of big or even domestic events where large crowd isexpected, selection of the venue should be given top priority, because as perthe size of the crowd, security staff require QRC drone and Xray equipment inlarge number at entry and exit points.

*The sale of onlinetickets with marked spaces for car parking, entry and exit gates, location oftoilets and refreshment booths is a better solution.

*Avoid placing ofunassertive and delinquent staff having less exposure and knowledge aboutdisaster management.

*Conduct of mock drills atall sensitive points under expert will help make fool proof and successfulconduct of the event.

*The experts of crowdmanagement and anti sabotaging must be informed about the expected minimum tomaximum crowd so that the entire paraphernalia is made to operate in advancealso exercising extra consciousness and simulation.

*Opertionalization offirst aid and emergency medical teams along with fire tenders ensuring clearpassage and hassel free movement in case of occurrence of incidence that can bedue to sabotaging, spreading of rumours or collapsing of central pavillion, spectator stands due to near or beyond capacity or wearable strength.

*It is indeed the responsibilityof the administration to keep watch on the buildings adjacent to the venuebeing used as viewing point by the public.

*Effective communicationnetwork needs to be got placed not only upto the time of blowing of finishingwhistle by the umpire but untill crowd clears venue and return back.

There is an importantmessage of happening at Chinnaswami Stadium where in the absence proper planning, road map, lack of coordination between organisers security,  medical emergency wings and simulation of vision the authorities failed  tocontrol crowd of over two lacks which resulted turning of sensuousness intosudden sadness to the World.
