Atul leads Indian team for World Cadet Chess Champ

Chairman of planning and development commission of AllIndia Chess Federation (AICF), Atul Kumar Gupta of J&K has been nominatedas Head of Delegation with Indian team heading for World Cadet Chess Championshipat Almaty in Kazakhstan from September 18.

Grandmaster, MS Thej Kumar of Karnataka and WomenGrandmaster, Arthie Ramaswamy of Tamil Nadu have been nominated as coaches withthe strong Indian team, reports reaching here said.

“Indian team has good prospect of winning medal in thisworld event. The events will be held in Under-eight, Under-10 and Under-12 inboth boys and girls categories. Around 80 countries are participating in thisevent to be held under the banner of FIDE,” Atul told SAN.

The team is sponsored by the Sports Authority of India(SAI). Former J&K Champion and working president of All J&K ChessAssociation (AJKCA), Atul Gupta has been instrumental in producing firstInternational Master from the Union Territory.
