The Jammu and Kashmir Weightlifting Association organized the Asmita Khelo India Women’s Weightlifting League at Indoor Hall, here today.
The competition featured Youth, Junior, and Senior categories, drawing participation of over 45 female athletes, showcasing the growing enthusiasm and momentum of weightlifting sport in the region.
Mohan Lal Bhagat, MLA, Akhnoor was the chief guest in the closing function, who presented medals to those winner lifters. He appreciated the efforts and dedication of the young women participants and lauded the initiative of the Association in providing a platform to the rural women in sports.
Yudhvir Singh, general secretary of the J&K Weightlifting Association extended the formal vote of thanks.
Earlier, Principal, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor, Manmeet Bali declared the competition open. Among other dignitaries present were Harbhajan Singh, Dhanraj Singh, Dileep Singh, Harish Sharma, Manjeet Singh, Naman Singh, Vikas Virdi, Neelam Virdi, Bharti Devi, Darshana Devi, and Jugal Kishore (Manager, JKSC).
The Results:
44 kg: Naman Deep Kour (Ist Youth); Aditi Lasgotra (1st Junior); Diksha Sharma (2nd Junior) and Mahi Devi (3rd Junior).
48 kg: Mahina Sharma (Ist Youth);Riya Parveen (2nd Youth); Hargun Kour (3rd Youth); Aarya (1st Junior).
53 kg: Youth: Sakshi Dubey,1st; Janvi Radha, 2nd and Chanchali Kumari, 3rd. Junior:Palak Sangotra, Ist; MansiDevi, 2nd. Senior: Rutbi Sharma, 1st.
58 kg: Youth: Harman Deep Kour, 1st; Bandana Devi, 2nd and Khushi, 3rd.Junior: Aghya Sharma, Ist. Senior: Riya Mehra, Ist; Manvi Katal, 2nd.
69 kg: Youth: Chahat Singh, Ist; Aditia Sharma, 2nd. Junior: Abhilasha Sharma, 1st.
