Three senior players fromJ&K have been selected in the Indian squad for the 10th Asian Wushu Championshipat Macau in China from September nine to September 16.
The Indian Wushu team wasundergoing National Coaching camp at NS NIS Patiala, organised by the SportsAuthority of India (SAI). Earlier, the Wushu Association of India (WAI) conductedselection trials twice to shortlist the team. The preliminary selection trials heldin Jammu whereas the final selection trials conducted at Karnataka.
Selected J&K playersare Surya Bhanu Partap Singh (65 kg), Abhishek Jamwal (56 kg) and Rajat Charak(90 kg), a handout issued by the Wushu Association of J&K informed. While BhanuPartap is a silver medal winner in the BRICS games, Abhishek Jamwal and RajatCharak are the National champions in their respective weight category.
Meanwhile, 30 membersIndian Wushu team got the sanction of the Government at cost to government. Theteam has reached Macau and the Weigh in and draw of lots will take place on September10, followed by the bouts from September 11. Singh has been selected in beow65kg, Abhishek Jamwal in 56kg whereas Rajat Charak in Below 90kg.
The Wushu Association ofJ&K president, Vijay Saraf and general secretary, Bhavneet congratulated theselected players and wished them all the very best.
Kuldeep Handoo(Dronacharya Awardee) also congratulated the trio athletes for making UT feel proudof the athletes.
